wanna share my room...?

We have a place! We have a place!

We have now confirmed our location. The place has got 113 double rooms in a nice 80’s atmosphere. Every room has a shower and toilet, a TV (so what?) and a hairdryer. And a trouser press. There’s an indoor pool, two saunas (facilitating naked Finns) and good conference facilities. The place is roughly a 45 min. drive from the centre of Copenhagen and 600 metres walk from the train station. There’s also a bar and a pool table. Read more here.

This also means that we have some of the most basic facts fixed:

  • Knudepunkt will take place February 15 to February 18 (A Week in Denmark will take place in the days in advance)
  • The price for participating will be 400 DKK
You can begin signing up in November.

money can't buy me love

Mo’ money, mo’ money, mo’ money...

We struck gold! Since the last newsletter we’ve gotten money from three beautiful benefactors, namely:

  • Sverok, the national gaming organisation in Sweden
  • LLR, the national larp organisation in Denmark (which is also responsible for holding Knudepunkt)
  • DUF, which organises national youth organisations in Denmark

That’s great. Money cant buy you love, but it can buy you something damn close ... (namely a great place to hold the event, food, a book, transportation and who knows what else)

As far as we know, Hyperion and SuoLi only funds member organisations, so we can’t ask for money. But maybe someone else can ask them for support for transport? How about a bus from Oslo? Or a Hummer from Helsinki?

You can see a complete list of sponsors here.

The Danish Connection

LLR isn’t just giving us money to pay the bills. They’re also sending a bus from Aalborg to Copenhagen through all bigger cities, giving their members free transportation to the event. Great! That’s giving us more participants from all parts of Denmark!

Ze German Connection

Don’t know what to do in January 2007? From January 12 – 14 there’s Mittelpunkt in Oberwesel (Germany!) Check out www.larp-mittelpunkt.de!

The program!

Ladies and gentlemen – time has come for us to start compiling the Knudepunkt program. As you may remember, last year we promised a 50-point program – that’s dozens of lectures, workshops and debates. And that’s where you come in. So get in touch with us – see the call for program here

Once more with feeling

There’s still a chance for you to be a published author.
Read our call for papers here.

My place or yours?

The second A Week in Denmark (enhanced edition!) will be held in the days up to Knudepunkt. We’ll be opening our arms to Brazilians, Swedes, Finns, Russians, Norwegians, Australians and whoever else will be coming. For a week, our guests will participate in a variety of larp-related events and drinking games in Copenhagen.

But these fantastic people need a place to live. The best place is your place. If you’re interested in opening your home to some fantastic people, please contact Ryan.

We’re looking so much forward to this thing!

happy, happy, joy, joy

EU money, rock on!

We've gotten our first confirmed funding – from the EU. We've been given a grant of 5.000 euro for the project. Great!

We've also written applications for a number of other organisations, including DUF, Nordisk Kulturfond, Sverok, Tuborg and Tryg. We're hoping!

As always, your suggestions for funding are welcomed – send an email to Mikkel.

Once more with feeling

You can still participate in the Knudepunkt book of 2007. You can read our call for papers here.

If you want to help us out as a proofreader or an illustrator, check out the same webpage.

A Week in Denmark is coming along

Our AWiD-group is getting settled on a program – and we'll soon be able to tell you something.

If you're a dane and you want to be a host for some spectacular and lovable foreigners, you are most welcome to contact Ryan – as soon as possible.

Summer of love

We've been traveling around the Nordic countries this summer, meeting old and new people. This weekend, Bjarke is coming to Trondheim – so if you have any questions, please ask.

We've throwing liquid nitrogen at eachother while writing this newsletter. Soon, Denmark will be as cold as Finland.

With love,
The Danes

and the beat goes on...

Da Vinci Code of 2007

The book is coming along fine. We have developed a concept - and now we're looking forward to develop more ideas together with you. For now, we'd love if you would do two things: (1) Start thinking about whether you want to do an article - and on what (2) Start thinking about who else you would like to write an article. Expect the Call for Papers in the end of July. It wil be sent to this mailing list, when the three book editors come home from an inspiration journey to Tuscany.

A Close Relationship

The program is coming along fine as well. We have decided to use the same concept for the book and the program, in order to have a better relationship between the two. Also, we have started brainstorming on ideas for lectures, workshops, debates and experiments we would like to have on Knudepunkt. We will probably do a call for program in August. Until then, keep sending your ideas to Lene.

Another Lene

We're doing our best to cross every language barrier available. And one language is harder to understand than Finnish: That's Norwegian. Luckily, we've managed to hook up with Norwegian-born-but-Copenhagen-living Lene Borgen Bjørhei. She'll be a part of the organising committee and responsible for the decor of our location. And more.

Material World

We've sent off new funding requests to the nice people at two similar organisations: The Sverok and The EU. We hope, they'll both help us out!
If you have any other ideas for funding, you are very welcome to contact our Material Girl Mikkel Rode.

A Week in Denmark

AWiD will be held in Copenhagen, and right now we are focusing on the logistic side of things.
We are, as always, hoping for a chaotic bundle of multinational larpers.
Lodging will be a combination of community house lodging and private lodging.
Moreover, we will have a base of operation for general mingling and cheap-but-good food-and-drink.
From here you will be able to access information on A Week in Denmark as it unfolds. More info on AWiD as the event closes in.

Tune in next month for more Knudepunkt-news!

Ciao,
The Danes

and the cotton is high...

It's summertime in Denmark – and we're still discussing how we can make the best Knudepunkt ever the coming winter.

Responsibilities

There are so many interesting things to do when organizing Knudepunkt. But unfortunately not everyone can do everything. So we had to give ourselves different responsibilities…
You can check out what your favorite organizer is doing at www.knudepunkt.org. That way, you'll know whether to write an article or do a program entry to meet those gorgeous Danish girls & guys.

Location, location, location...

We have started contacting different locations.
So far, we are contacting eight different places.
However, we don't expect to be settled on a place until fall.

Material world...

We need a lot of money to do, what we want to...
However, we didn't receive any funds from neither NUK nor Nordisk Kulturfond– but will try again in the fall. We have also applied Cirius and the Danish Youth Council. In the coming months, we'll apply with a lot of other organizations, including Sverok.
If you have any funding ideas, please send an email to Mikkel Rode.

Program ideas

Do you have a nice summer idea for the program? Please send an e-mail to Lene Dam.

Book ideas

Do you have a nice summer idea for an article for the book? Please send an e-mail to Line Thorup (we'll do a call for papers in July).

One hundred and fourty two

There's 142 people receiving this newsletter – that's great. Keep telling everyone about the Knudepunkt website.

We hope you have a great summer – we'll write you back in July.

Yours truly,
The Danes

we miss you already!

Hey there, darling!

We had a great time in Sweden, and we hope you did too!

Death, Love and Inspiration

We’ve come home sparkling with ideas on how to do Knudepunkt next year. As are you, we guess – so if you have any ideas, please send them to us at ms@knudepunkt.org or post them at the Laiv.org forum! (You can find it via our website)

For now, at Knudepunkt 2007, we promise you:

  • 50 program items – if you bring them (Markus Montola holds three items - can you do better?)
  • A Week in Denmark – and it’s going to be spectacular, spectacular!
  • A book, you can place on your coffee table (if you have one)
  • A bar with nice drinks
  • Love
If we don’t deliver all of the above, the KP07 committee promises to buy a round of drinks for everyone coming to the Finnish Solmukohta 2008.

"The Internet"

If you haven’t seen it already, we’ve opened our website at: www.knudepunkt.org – it’s not really done yet, but you can read the most basic information on Knudepunkt 2007 and see who to contact on what issues. Some of you have already started emailing us with ideas for the program or the book. That’s great – thanks and keep ‘em coming!

Your place or mine?

We haven’t found the perfect location yet. But we’re still looking. We sure want to throw a party with all those lovely goods from The Vodka Foundation.

We can’t wait to see you!

We’ll send you a newsletter, every time we’ve got something to say. Tell your friends to sign up at www.knudepunkt.org!

Hugs and kisses,

Ze Danes
